Job Summary:

At Anchorage Digital, we are shaping the forefront of digital asset platforms tailored for institutional involvement in the realm of cryptocurrency. Our company, anchored in 2017, operates as a regulated crypto platform focusing on delivering integral financial services and infrastructure solutions to institutions. As the first federally chartered crypto bank in the US, Anchorage Digital presents institutions with unparalleled security custody, regulatory compliance, diverse product offerings, and dedicated client service. We aim to enrich our team with individuals who embody humility, creativity, and a thirst for learning.

We offer a global remote working environment while providing the option to work from physical offices situated in various cities like New York City, Sioux Falls, Porto, Lisbon, and Singapore. For team members who are not geographically near our offices, we encourage and sponsor quarterly in-person collaborative days to enhance teamwork and cultivate stronger bonds within our community.

The team's primary objective revolves around enabling institutions to securely settle digital assets at scale, thereby enhancing digital asset liquidity while mitigating counterparty risks. This realm within Anchorage Digital is burgeoning with extensive potential for growth.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Engineering and Product Managers as well as the rest of the engineering team to strategize, develop, launch, and maintain cutting-edge software for the Settlement Network business segment. Your pivotal roles include steering the system architecture, setting the technical direction, and nurturing each team member's technical proficiencies.

We strongly believe at Anchorage Digital that product development is an ever-evolving process - the product is never truly "complete," thereby allowing room for enhancement and innovation. As part of our team, we expect you to drive product advancement by devising novel solutions catered to our institutional clients. We constantly push the boundaries of innovation to propel the future of cryptocurrency and the digital asset ecosystem.

At Anchorage Digital, we adopt a unique approach to growth and career progression. We define performance based on the acquisition, sharpening, and application of a pertinent set of skills and competencies to deliver consistently effective outcomes. Our "Factors of Growth & Impact" framework aims to help all Anchorage Digital team members measure their impact and foster enriching learning experiences while exploring, developing, and mastering capabilities both within and beyond the realm of Software Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the development of secure, resilient infrastructure from inception.
  • Conduct comprehensive code review across the entire software stack and engineering operations, actively engaging in product development activities.
  • Cultivate an effective deterministic testing culture with a focus on reducing technical debt.
  • Address complex software design challenges.
  • Efficiently implement top-notch code - functional, high performance, succinct, well-tested, and clear.

Role Requirements:

To be an ideal fit for this role, you should possess:

  • 8+ years of professional experience in building backend services with an API-first approach (e.g., REST, GraphQL, gRPC).
  • Proficiency in designing, developing, and deploying cloud-native micro-services.
  • A passion for developing automated tests alongside product features.
  • Real-world experience in constructing intricate distributed systems.
  • Enjoyment in establishing services from scratch and providing sustained support over significant timelines.
  • A genuine appreciation for code quality and infrastructure solidity.
  • Preference for enhancing end-user experience and driving business value over the allure of trendy technologies.
  • Familiarity with fundamental computer science aspects such as algorithms, data structures, and operating systems (Formal CS degree NOT mandatory).
  • Self-identification with qualities like creativity, humility, ambition, attention to detail, hard work, trustworthiness, eagerness to learn, methodical approach, action-oriented mindset, and tenacious spirit.

Additional Preferred Skills:

While not obligatory, possessing the following skills or experience would be an added advantage:

  • Professional background in C++ or Go.
  • Proficiency in Kubernetes.
  • Expertise in system security aspects (e.g., authentication, authorization, identity, API keys).
  • Previous exposure to the finance industry.

All full-time employees receive competitive salaries, substantial equity stakes, and a rich assortment of perks and benefits. The indicated compensation range of $145,000 - $205,000 may vary based on regional locations and job grades, with further refinement during the interview process to align with requisite skills, capabilities, and experience.

Benefits provided by Anchorage Digital encompass top-tier health, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their dependents.
