Conduct training sessions to raise awareness and promote risk management within the company.

Stay informed about current laws and legal developments and ensure consistency in legal matters across departments.

Take calculated risks in the business context and provide solutions to address identified issues.

Requirements:

Must be a qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction with a minimum of 8 years' post-qualification experience.

Excellent team player with solid business acumen.

Prior experience in a reputable law firm focusing on corporate transactions and governance is preferred.

Strong reorganization experience is essential.

Demonstrates exceptional legal expertise, business understanding, and interpersonal skills.

Capable of managing complex projects independently while collaborating effectively within a team.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational abilities.

Job Requirements

Qualified lawyer specializing in dispute resolution with at least 5 years of experience at a respected global law firm in a common law jurisdiction in LATAM. In-house experience is a bonus

Holding a Bachelor's or Master of Laws degree from a reputable law school

Proficiency in financial products and commercial transactions is essential

Experience in managing disputes for traditional financial institutions and cryptocurrency firms is advantageous

Background in handling regulatory inquiries and investigations is favorable

Interest in the cryptocurrency sector and its growth

Thorough legal expertise, business acumen, and sound judgment

Capable of independently managing complex projects and delivering creative risk management solutions

Strong legal drafting and interpretation skills

Proficient in English and Portuguese to facilitate coordination with global partners and stakeholders

Responsibilities

Assist in overseeing the Global High-Risk Client program and the maintenance of Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) Policies & Procedures for Retail & Corporate High-Risk Clients.

Provide strategic support and insights on monitoring high-risk customers and other key HRC/EDD initiatives.

Lead Global High-Risk Client Governance Forums to facilitate collaboration and information sharing between First Line of Defence (FLOD) and Second Line of Defence (SLOD) teams.

Manage the high-risk customer monitoring program for Global markets, including overseeing enhancement and remediation efforts.

Work with Product and Engineering teams to improve products and systems pertaining to HRC/EDD.

Document global HRC/EDD requirements and maintain local country-specific requirements.

Collaborate with local Money Laundering Reporting Officers (MLROs) for localization where needed.

Provide expertise on Customer Risk Rating (CRR) methodology for High-Risk Clients globally.

Stay updated on global HRC/EDD standards and local requirements in operating regions.

Prioritize HRC/EDD projects effectively.

Monitor and handle metrics relevant to HRC/EDD.

Oversight of global escalation processes concerning HRC/EDD.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD).

Possession of ACAMS, ACFCS, or equivalent industry certifications.

4+ years of managerial experience.

4+ years of experience managing periodic reviews and monitoring of high-risk customers.

Familiarity with global Customer Due Diligence (CDD)/EDD requirements.

Proficiency in implementing customer risk scoring frameworks.

Strong understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT) and sanctions risks.

Knowledge of global licensing requirements in financial services and crypto-related business activities.

Experience in dealing with complex beneficial ownership structures.

Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and writing skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced remote working environment.

Proficiency in financial products relevant to LATAM markets, such as spot trading, margin trading, futures, options, and payment channels.

Demonstrated interest in and understanding of the cryptocurrency industry and its regulatory framework in LATAM.

Prior experience in managing financial product cycles from inception to launch in LATAM is advantageous.

Exceptional team collaboration skills for working across diverse teams effectively.

Ability to offer practical legal advice in complex and evolving regulatory environments.

A proactive, leadership-oriented mindset for influencing strategic decisions.

Proficient in written and spoken English, with fluency in Spanish or Portuguese for effective engagement with local and international stakeholders.
