Cryptography Engineer

Full time
Remote
Fully remote worldwide position

Lagrange Labs is seeking a Cryptography Engineer to join our rapidly expanding research team. The perfect candidate should have expertise in developing production-level zero-knowledge proof systems in Rust.

Our team is currently working on ZK MapReduce, a unique proof system tailored for demonstrating large-scale batch storage inclusion and dynamic MapReduce style computations concurrently. Central to the ZK MapReduce stack is Recproofs, an innovative vector commitment scheme crafted by the Lagrange Labs research team.

Recproofs are fine-tuned for onchain applications necessitating efficient computation and maintenance of proofs over a dynamic stream of blocks. Each proof can be updated in logarithmic time when the leaves in a subset or the overall set changes.

Our proofs are already being utilized in diverse applications, from trustless DeFi primitives driven by historical data, to ZK-rollups' digest transformations, and validated public goods funding based on onchain activity.

Requirements

The ideal cryptography engineering candidate at Lagrange should have:

Prior experience in implementing applied cryptographic primitives in Rust (zero-knowledge proofs, elliptic curve cryptography, vector commitments, etc).

Proficiency with modern Rust-based proving systems (Plonky2, Nova, Halo2, Bellman, etc).

Thorough understanding of the theoretical basis of zero-knowledge proofs.

Enthusiasm for optimizing novel proof constructions and distributed proving systems at a low level.

Proven track record in developing and maintaining cryptographic libraries in Rust.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Self-driven motivation with a keen interest in contributing to a team focused on creating innovative products.

Benefits

Competitive salary along with equity and token package.

Opportunities for team offsite engagements and conference travel.

Fully remote role with flexible working hours.

Unlimited vacation policy.

Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage for US employees.

Why Lagrange?

Collaborate with a team of dedicated researchers and engineers.

Foster a respectful team culture with high individual ownership of your work.

Contribute to the development of solutions that could be pivotal infrastructure elements for the crypto industry.

Gain exposure to contributing to impactful research publications.
